DDDUUUUUUDDDDDEEEEE I GOT PRINCIPLE PART (1st chair) IN IMEA. BEAT THAT, :devJanson-Klivian-4-pres: ! X) lol

I was so shocked! IMEA is a huge deal for my state; just in district (there are like 9 districts in my state) 2500 people auditioned to be a part of IMEA. They pick like 350 of them. 100 or so in Orchestra, 100 or so in Band, and 100 or so in Choir. I auditioned about a month ago, got in, and the paper said I got 11th part. Me: WUT?! That SUCKS! I feel so ashamed...
Then I get there, and I was actually 1st. That is a real shocker, okay? grrrrs at Mr. Dahl for making a typo!!! (and there were actually 9 horns, so 11th horn wouldn't make sense, would it?) So I got all the solos (well, would if there WERE ANY >< ), and got to shake hands with the conductor, and congratulated and everything. I have a plaque now.

So yeah, I feel a bit hyper, and have high self-esteem right now. But I can't forget--that doesn't mean I'm the best. There's another 8 horns above me who got into the Orchestra. (Unless I go by what Andrew (trumpist) explained that the lead best goes from 1st in orchestra, to 1st in band, to 2nd in orchestra etc...he's says it's not talent that puts you in the orchestra, they count every other?) I dunno, makes me feel better, but kind of confusing. The the horns in the orchestra were BEASTLY good, so I'm kind of rooting for talent. (And a girl I've known indirectly since 8th grade who got into the most prestigous orchestra in the state, if not the country, was in the orchestra...even if she's a year younger than me, I KNOW she was better than me back when she was a 7th grader and I was an 8th grader)

Mayhaps that means I have a decent chance in getting into IMEA All-State. (that's where they pile the elite players from across the entire state and have them play with each other. Now THAT'S amazing. If I don't get in this year, I'm certainly shooting for next year!)

eeeeeee my lips are shot, even though I managed to pull of a good 'concert' in church today; playing in my brass ensemble there. Couldn't play above F though. x)
